What Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?
Learn how ART can help you in Buffalo, MN
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a rapid, evidence-based form of psychotherapy designed to help individuals process and resolve distressing memories, emotional pain, and trauma more quickly than many traditional therapeutic approaches. Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART uses guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) along with structured mental imagery techniques to help re-organize how troubling memories are stored in the brain so they no longer trigger intense emotional and physical reactions.
We offer two locations to better serve individuals, couples, groups and families in the surrounding area. Call 320-455-9888 to make an appointment.
How Does ART Work?
In an ART session, a licensed therapist helps you:
- Identify emotionally charged memories or images that contribute to symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts.
- Use dual-attention stimulation (often through guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation techniques) to facilitate processing of these memories.
- Replace or transform the emotional response linked to those images into something more neutral or positive, reducing distress without needing to verbally recount painful details.
This process allows many clients to experience noticeable relief in just one to a few sessions, which makes ART a highly effective and time-efficient treatment option.
